Take Care Where you park 23/05/2019

Be mindful of where you park your car

These cars where parked here in Yelarbon's main street minding there own business when a truck that doesn't slow down when taking a sharp left turn after coming over railway crossing  , and wiped out these three cars as well as the awning to this building which is situuated in main street of Yelarbon coming from Gondiwindi, happened around Easter time 2019.

OUCH!!

 YELARBON                                                                                            26th April 2019

Yelarbon is a small town in south-central Queensland on the Dumaresq River, near the New South Wales border. It sits on the Cunningham Highway midway between Goondiwindi and Inglewood

The first things you notice when coming into Yelarbon are the eight extra large grain silos

Another thing of interest here is the remains of the Dingo Barrier Fence and some old historical buildings.

An old strainer post is all the remains of the end of the original  Dingo Barrier Fence.

TEXAS QLD 20/05/2019

 TEXAS   QLD

                                                                                                                     April /May 2019
Texas is a small country town on the border of QLD and NSW.

Well I am finally here, arriving Good Friday 2019
I have always been wanting to go Texas, the name has drawn me to this town . The town is home to the largest feedlot in Australia and also the rabbit works (Australian history of rabbit plaque back in 1920)

The river flats and surrounding area are dotted with old tobacco barns another reminder of the towns farming history, today cotton and fodder are grown.

We stayed at Southern Border Accommodation Park
Southern Border Accommodation Park front entrance
owned by Jason & Sandra WHITE new owners since January 2019. They both go the extra mile to make you feel welcome and will greet you warmly with a smile and  a good chat. Well worth a visit.

There is a bowls club here which welcomed us quite warmly.

PORT DOUGLAS 22/09/2018

22nd September 2018

Sharon SHEPPEARD standing at lookout over looking Port Douglas
Port Douglas
many people pay a fortune to stay and play, unless I win lotto I wont be able to stay here.

A beautiful place, sunny days mostly, very humid temp which most people like. There are lots of high rise apartments and heaps of coffee  and dress  shops for the yuppies to spend money.

view from Port Douglas shore looking at Cruise liner

The beach with cruse ship in background

We walk to the beach hoping to get sand between  our toes  BUT what is this? A hessian mat all the way to the waters edge,

Lots of blue and white umbrella with matching deck chairs under them, all full with over seas visitors soaking up the sun.

So they (tourist oversea visitors) don't take sand back to the apartments, some of them don't like the feel of sand on their feet

Most of these people sitting here have paid a small fortune to be here. Some will pay later for soaking in the hot sun too long, fair sink and sun don't mix.

The view from the lookout is spectacular
